This removes both rotation movements of the camera and the "shake" characteristics of stabilization process. Then, I import the tracking information into After Effects and parent the tracking information in an expression format that puts negative rotation to counter the positive rotations and link the position changes to the scale changes. This is a 3 dimensional planar tracking system that does not depend upon points in the video for tracking (i.e., it can "track" points off the screen without loosing track and uses spline/planar points). so, from that perspective it may actually be less expensive because it can do more than just stabilize the picture but do it (and, rotoscope) in a fashion that is accurate and very fast (a rare combination).įirst, I use MOCHA to determine the tracking keys for the scene. but, the uses expand waaay past simply using it for stabilization purposes. However, here is a method I have found works extremely well.but, fair warning it is NOT cheap. I am not sure about using a single stabilization program as being the best solution (except maybe the one made by The Foundry).
